To keep your mind and soul happy and active, Spread Eagle Sailing Club will be running single day training courses throughout the winter months for only £40 per day.

The training days will focus on a specific activity per day: man-overboard recovery under power and sail; close quarters boat handling; pilotage in restricted visibility (blind nav); passage planning; sail trimming; picking up buoys and anchoring; skippering techniques; the list is endless!

The training is for any club member who would either like to keep learning and having fun throughout the winter months, or would just like a day crewing on the water. Due to short daylight hours the course fee is only £40 + divided fuel costs. Please bring your own food and drink.

Arrangements for each course will be made at short notice due to weather conditions therefore courses will be advertised via our Facebook page with booking via the website only. So please either join our closed Facebook group if you haven’t done so already, or regularly check the website.

Weather conditions may effect the running of each event so payment to the club will be made at the end of the training day.

Our FIRST one day training on Pilotage in Restricted Visibility aka Blind Nav, will take place on Friday 11th November.

We are open to course ideas so please contact our Event Co-ordinator Ian Hyde if you have a technique you would like to practise and we shall set it up for you. Equally if places have gone on the courses contact Ian and we can run another duplicate course.

Our non formal constructive activities are run by experienced club skippers and numbers are restricted to ensure that everyone gets the benefit of their expertise and knowledge, at a cost of £40 per person plus fuel.

If you would like to book a place, sign in through the members area of the website www.spreadeaglesailingclub.co.uk and go to the Club Event page or the Club Activities page.

Please do join our closed Facebook group ‘Spread Eagle Sailing Club’ where members regularly post pictures of their ventures on Eagle and other news including information on the Solent – hazards and maydays also posted on the FB page.

As always, please continue to share your stories and pictures of club or general sailing events with the editor jane@wag-design.com

Please contact Event Co-ordinator Ian Hyde if you have any questions.
