After many years of dedicated service, David Smithson has decided to retire from his role as SESC Club Treasurer. Over his 13-year tenure, David has been instrumental in managing club bookings, tracking payments, and reimbursing members for club expenses.

David meticulously reconciled the club accounts with bank statements and prepared the annual accounts for audit and submission to Companies House. But beyond his financial expertise, David has been a true character of the club. With a wealth of sailing experience, he was always happy and great company onboard, sharing stories, jokes, and wisdom with everyone. He was a skilled boat chef, keeping crews well-fed, and often sailed with his family, including his grandchildren, creating memories that many of us will cherish.

David is the longest-serving treasurer in our 25-year history, and on behalf of the entire club, we extend our heartfelt thanks to David for his incredible commitment and service.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Chris Maughan as our new treasurer, starting in 2026. Chris is an experienced sailor with an A+ skipper’s ticket. We are in the process of granting him access to the club bank accounts, and the new email address for treasurer communications is: sesc.clubtreasurer@gmail.com.

Until Chris assumes full responsibility, a big thank you goes to David Berragan, who has been temporarily managing club outgoings and expenses.

Additionally, there is a change in charter bookings. Jane Mancini has kindly volunteered to manage this role. Members wishing to reserve Eagle for a charter should do so via the club website. Jane will advise on costs, track payments, and manage deposits. Please remember to include clear payment references, including charter, club event, or engine hours, to help with tracking.

Thank you to all members for supporting these transitions and for welcoming Chris and Jane to their new roles.
